OLGA ROBBIE (nee Bilinski) Olga Robbie passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on Friday, August 3, 2007. She is survived by her daughter Audrey (Bernard Toni), her granddaughter Lauren (Michel Danis) and her precious great-grandchildren, Mia and Logan Danis. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2001, after 65 years of marriage. Olga was born in Winnipeg on September 13, 1913. She attended school in the north end, and graduated from St. John's High School. Following this, she obtained her teaching certificate from Normal School, and taught for a brief time in rural Manitoba and Winnipeg. After her marriage to her high school sweetheart, John Robbie, in 1936, she left her teaching career but remained involved in community service, which included the C.U.A.C. Ladies Auxiliary, the St. John Brebeuf chapter of the C.W.L. and later the Columbus Courts Seniors Residence. Beginning in her teens, Olga was a talented seamstress, designing and sewing clothing for herself, her daughter and her granddaughter. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and many friends and family members have treasured the beautiful afghans she created. She felt you were never too old to learn, and in her nineties, took part in classes in sign language and flower arranging. After John's retirement, the two of them travelled extensively across North America, from Vancouver to the Maritimes, and from Alaska to Mexico and Hawaii, as well as to Europe and the Caribbean. These trips were often in the company of close friends Stephen and Sophie Toni, and Peter and Eleanor Taraska. Olga was very close to her daughter and granddaughter and enjoyed going out shopping and to movies with her girls . Her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and most Sundays Mia and Logan looked forward to having dinner with Great-grammy . Olga made friends easily, and although many of her long-time friends predeceased her, she established new friendships in her later years. She was very happy to spend her last two years with the wonderful staff and residents of Lindenwood Manor. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Jamie Boyd who was Olga's caring physician for the past 35 years. A Memorial mass celebrating Olga's life will take place on Thursday, September 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Lindenwood Manor, 475 Lindenwood Drive East. If friends desire, contributions may be made in Olga's memory to the Building Fund of St. Gianna's Church. Thomson In the ParK Funeral Home and Cemetery 925-1120
